Working with her wilderness search dog Ebbey, Mikella knows any search can turn dangerous. She also knows any search can turn deadly. But knowing and surviving are two different realities.

In addition to her stepbrother Albert, Mikella's closest friend is her search dog 'Ebbey'. The scrappy little pup was found starving on the Rez (reservation), and no one could train her. No one except Mikella.
Searching together for nine years, their bond is very strong. Though physically still capable, nine is pretty old for a wilderness search dog. Leaving the dog behind, or getting a replacement, would likely kill her most loyal friend. Soon, Mikella must make a painful decision.
